How It's Done

I don't plan very much, I just get on with it. Using acrylic or gouache, and sometimes both, I splash around until something happens.

With some, however, I do put down some sort of a rough sketch using charcoal. I'm somewhat heavy handed with charcoal, so I'm happy for it to wash and dissolve with the paint.

Some are painted onto a stupidly expensive sheet of photographic inkjet paper, simply because its laying around, then mounted on DiBond for flatness and stability. Others are painted directly to the DiBond surface.

A satin polyurethane coating adds protection and produces a softness that appeals to me.
